In 2003, civil war was broken out in Darfur region of Sudan resulting in the highest number of the death in the twenty-first century. The outbreak of civil war, also recognized as an ethnic-cleansing campaign, resulted from the fighting for the oil, land, and water resources. The war brought about numerous problems such as illness, starvation, and military conflicts, which further cost the lives of 200,000 people and displaced nearly three million Sudanese. Hundreds of thousands of people sought refuge in neighboring Chad and Central African Republic.

Forcing corporations to divest their holdings in Sudan will perhaps be the most effective way to send a message loud and clear to the Khartoum government. Sudan Divestment Task Force is perhaps the leading organization in this effort to expose the corporations involved. Please visit their website to get further information along with tips and tools to bring an end to the genocide.

Welcome,

We are African American grassroots political and social activists concerned about the ongoing genocide against people of African descent in Southern Sudan. While we looked to work with other organizations concerned about the ongoing genocide in Sudan, we feel that those organizations were not willing to go far enough in their condemnation of China and they refused to support our petition. However, we do support their efforts to put pressure on the Government of China to reign in the Khartoum Government of Sudan in their way, however we feel stronger incentives are needed to force China to use its influence in the region. We are also ashamed that the African American population has largely been quiet on this issue as they should feel empathy for those in their homelands and seemingly would be concerned and want to show support. This website is also an effort to bring more awareness of this issue to their attention.
